Best of Breed at the Taunton Premier Open Show, May '09

On the last weekend in May,Shirley Cawthorne took River and her grandmother Tashi over to Dublin to attended the European Winner Dog Show, which was held under FCI rules. She was expertly handled by Babs Carroll, and was awarded Best Junior in Breed and reserve green star, under Tamas Jakkel, from Hungary, who graded her 'excellent'. This is defined as 'Whose merits in structure and conformation are such that it can be considered an excellent specimen of the breed and of Champion quality'. Tashi won best veteran in breed, and was also graded excellent. River was only beaten in her sex, by the best bitch who won the CACIB. In Ireland, as a Junior, River could not compete for this award.
The show was held on the hottest weekend of the year so far, so an amazing effort all round!
